Sara Ouverson, 73 of Clear Lake passed away March 6, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave N., Clear Lake, IA 50428 with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. She will be laid to rest at Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation and public viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the funeral chapel. Sara Amelia Lugar was born December 30, 1948 in Mason City, the daughter of Dorsie and Norma (Ward) Lugar. Graduating with the class of 1967 from Clear Lake High School, she continued her education at the Mason City School of Cosmetology. She worked out of her home doing hair for over fifty years. On April 4, 1970 Sara married Dennis Ouverson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union they were blessed with two children, Christopher and Lana Ouverson. Sara’s creativity was brought to life in the numerous quilts and embroidery projects she made with love over the years. She was a lifetime member of the USBC and was inducted into the hall of fame. She attended many national, state and local bowling tournaments and loved the sport. Sara was proud to be a member of the Golden Girls from the class of ’67 who would meet for coffee to celebrate birthdays and enjoyed numerous road trips to plant shops together in the spring. She looked forward to Winter Dance Parties and made several friends from all around the country. Sara loved time cruising around in her 2007 Volkswagen Beetle convertible and could be found driving all over the area. Most of all, Sara loved her family and cherished time spent together. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Dennis Ouverson; two children, Chirstopher and Lana Ouverson of Clear Lake; brother, James Lugar of Austin, MN; three spoiled yorkies, Wally, Abby and Miss Kitty; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsie and Norma Lugar; brother, Givens Lugar; a sister, Marilea Wheeler; and Dennis’ parents, Nora and Houston Ouverson.
