Ruth was born on July 26, 1925, in Mason City, IA, daughter of Coma and John Page. She grew up in Manly, IA and graduated from North Central. Ruth joined and attended New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She later got married and gave birth to two daughters, Ruby and Marilyn. Ruth had an interest in key punching and attended school in Ottumwa, IA. James Haddix came to Mason City to visit his brother Willis Haddix, when he first laid eyes on Ruth, it was love at first sight. Within a year James sent for Ruth and her youngest daughter to move to California and married her. Throughout that time Ruth joined Peace Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and served as an usher. Ruth and James had a loving marriage for 12 years until his passing in 1976. In 1978, Ruth decided to move back to Mason City to live with her twin sister, Ruby and her husband Willis. From then on she was reunited with New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth enjoyed reading, traveling, and eating out. In her leisure time, you could find her sitting in her recliner reading her books or Bible. The annual North Iowa Youth Center’s Inflatable Fun Day brought Ruth a lot of joy, being able to watch the children have such a good time. Ruth was a fan of watching the Harlem Globetrotters perform their stunts. She also loved her church, often attending Sunday School, Bible Studies, and Worship Services. Ruth deeply loved God and dedicated herself to living a Christ filled life. Those left to cherish memories of Ruth are her daughter, Marilyn Brown; grandchildren, Curtis (Lisa) Brown, Jonathan, Savanna, Victoria, and Noah; brother-in-law, Willis Haddix; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James; daughter, Ruby Elaine; both her parents; four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Clardy, Ruby Nell, Deloris Jean. For those unable to attend a livestream of the service will be available on the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel Facebook page.
