John C. Whipple, 63, of Mason City, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 3, 2022 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City. For those unable to join, a livestream of John’s service will be available through Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel’s Facebook page. Military honors will be provided by members of the Mason City Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences may be left to John’s family in care of the funeral home. John Curtis Whipple was born April 14, 1959 to Roger and Therese (Logue) Whipple. He grew up in Mason City, and attended Mason City High School before enlisting in the United States Army in December of 1976. Following his honorable discharge, John returned to Mason City where he raised his three children. He worked for many years as a server and also worked in furniture upholstery. John loved sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and San Francisco 49’s fan. He also enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Twins and could oftentimes be found with a book in hand and was known for his love of Sci-Fi and fantasy novels. His greatest moments, though, were spent alongside family and friends. John is survived by his children, Jason Whipple, Alicia Whipple and her children, Jeffrey-John Curtis Brown, Shae-Lee Rae Brown and Ruby-Renee Marie Brown, and Therese Whipple and her children, Andra-Renée Kathleen Parker and Rose Marie Parker, all of Washington state; siblings, Johanna Roan of Shreveport, LA, Anne Roberts (Gene), Jeannie King, and Steven Whipple all of Mason City; step mother, Coleen Whipple; sister in law, Chris Whipple, of Hampton; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Whipple; mother, Therese Logue; brother, David Whipple, of Hampton, IA; sister, Lynn Whipple, of Mason City; and brother-in-law Doug King, of Mason City.
