Jerry returned to Iowa in 1999, following Bonnie’s passing and settled again in Mason City. Jerry still kept busy and found himself gathering with friends across the Midwest, playing cards, attending potlucks, and creating countless memories along the way. It was through this group of friends that Jerry met Jerri Fournier, and they were blessed with 20 years together. Jerry never lost his love for travel and adventure. He and Jerri continued to enjoy many trips and vacations in recent years and especially loved their visits to Florida, Branson, and Oregon, and traveling to visit family. Jerry was a devoted grandfather and loved every minute shared with his granddaughters, Alison and Isabella. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Verlynn Rowell, Salem, OR and Vernon Gabel and his daughters, Alison and Isabella, Salem , OR; Geraldine "Jerri" Fournier and her family, Mason City; and members of the Stewart family; as well as extended relatives and many friends.
