Dennis Dee Dodd

July 6, 1940 - September 14, 2021

Dennis Dodd, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N Illinois Ave, Mason City, IA. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm prior to the Celebration at the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N Illinois Ave, Mason City, IA. Dennis was born on July 6, 1940 in Hansel, IA, the son of Virgil and Velma (Bachman) Dodd, of Rock Falls, IA. He was a graduate of Rock Falls High School. On November 5, 1960, Dennis married the love of his life, June, from this union five children were born. Dennis spent 35 great years working at the Interstate Power Company, retiring in 1998. Throughout the years he and June had lived in several different cities not just Mason City but Mesa, AZ, Salt Lake City, UT, as well as Clear Lake and Rock Falls. Grace Evangelical Free was Dennis’s church home. Lake Lida in Minnesota was Dennis’s favorite summer place for 20 years. Of those years he spent countless hours fishing, remodeling the cabins, and building several decks. Dennis and June enjoyed spending the winters in Mesa, AZ, visiting with friends and family. In between traveling, Dennis loved landscaping spending a lot of time out at his acreage. Dennis spent as much time with his family as possible, loving his big family unconditionally. Whenever a Iowa Hawkeye football game or wrestling match were on he would watch. Dennis often attended the local wrestling matches especially for Central Springs High School. Those left to cherish memories of Dennis are his wife of 60 years, June; children, Amy (Daniel) Smith, Michael (Yan) Dodd, Timothy (Tabitha) Dodd, Troy (Angie) Dodd, and Randy (Laura) Dodd; grandchildren, Amber Smith, Joshua (Megan) Smith, Jordan (Berverly) Smith, Caleb (Hannah) Smith, Zachary (Catherine) Smith, Isaac Smith, Adam Dodd, Katelyn Palmer, Grant Dodd, Isaiah Kraft, Avril Kraft, Nik Dodd, Alaina Dodd, Kiya Dodd; great grandchildren, Joy, Eliana, James, Benjamin, Finley, Evangeline, Jeremy, Juliette, and Logan; brother, Larry (Arlene) Dodd; sister, Sharon Cross; as well a numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dennis is preceded in death by both his parents; four brothers, Bill, Jerry, Delbert and David; as well as brother-in-law, Larry Cross.
