Darwin Leo Peters Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Darwin Peters, 75, of Rockwell, IA, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, IA. Due to Covid there will be no public visitation. Family will be having a private funeral service. Darwin was born on April 25, 1945, the son of Leo and Edna (Markwardt) Peters of Rockwell, IA. He was a graduate of Rockwell-Swaledale High School’s Class of 1963. On May 28, 1966, Darwin married Bev Wickwire at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Rockwell, from this union two daughters were born. He farmed in Rockwell for countless years. After an injury he took interest in woodworking, often making things for family, friends and to sell. Darwin was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Being outdoors, either fishing or being in the field were something that made him happy. Darwin loved animals, always had a dog by his side. Family was what brought the most joy to Darwin’s life, he loved them unconditionally. Spending time with loved ones as much as possible, especially enjoyed the grand babies. Those left to cherish memories of Darwin are his wife of 54 years, Bev; children, Monica (John) McLaughlin, of Kensett, IA, Carrie Demory, of Rockwell, IA; grandchildren, Devin (Dalcy) Lorentzen, Amber (Spencer) Behne, Ashley (Chris Hagerman) McLaughlin, Nathan (Stephi Lyles) Bond; six great grandchildren; siblings, Lauralye Peters and Carolyn AbuJobarah; sister-in-law, Nancy Beenken; in-laws, Gordon and June Wickwire; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends. Darwin is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Mike Demory.
