Anthony James Hitchcock

May 2, 1976 - May 9, 2022

Anthony James Hitchcock, 46, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, IA, with Mark Doebel officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear casual attire, as Tony was a simple man. If friends wish they can wear clothing from Tony’s favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Tony was born on May 2, 1976, the son of James Herbert Martzhal and Tina Chapin of Clear Lake, IA. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and was on the wrestling team. He graduated from Northwood Kensett High School in 1994. Tony started his career working at L.R. Falk in Northwood, IA. For seven years he worked for Midland Concrete. Until most recently he began working for Yohns. He married Ashley Ernster in June of 2007, and together they had two sons, Brody in 2009 and Kayden in 2010. Later on the couple divorced. Eventually Tony met Keri Marting and they had been together since. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his sons doing all sorts of activities. Oftentimes they would go to the lake, fishing, bowling, sledding, mini golfing, and playing video games and pool. Tony would take the family trips to the Mall of America, and Six Flags. He liked going for drives in his Jeep. Every year the family would attend the Annual Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast. He was an avid fan of football and especially supported the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Those left to cherish memories of Tony are his sons, Brody and Kayden Hitchcock; mother, Tina Chapin; father, James Herbert Martzhal; step-father, James Donald Prince; step-sister, Sheree; step-brother, Jimmy; girlfriend, Keri Marting; former-spouse, Ashley Ernster; feline friend, Spook; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members. Tony is preceded in death by his grandparents; and his uncle Steve.
